HP extend virtualisation efforts

Further partners with Citrix with Citrix Essentials support

HP today announced a number of new virtualisation designed to drive greater efficiencies across their entire technology infrastructures.

The offerings include enhancements to the HP StorageWorks and HP client virtualisation portfolios that deliver a seamless transition from a physical to a fully virtualised environment.

“Increasingly, customers are approaching us saying that they wish to virtualise their server environments, but are not sure where to start,” said Yesh Surjoodeen, Storage Works Division Business Unit Manager, HP Technology Solutions Group, South Africa.

“Their anxiety is unnecessary. HP’s range of virtualisation solutions allow customers to move to a fully virtualised environment with minimal administrative costs and technical complexities,”

HP is working with Citrix to provide a greater degree of storage automation and integration within virtualised environments. HP announced in May that it is a charter member of the Citrix Ready Open Storage Programme. Today, HP is expanding the collaboration and will now support Citrix Essentials with StorageLink technology.

“Our collaboration with HP provides an economical solution to the ever-growing complexities and resource costs associated with data center deployments,” said N. Louis Shipley, Group Vice President and General Manager, XenServer Product Group, Citrix.

“StorageLink not only maximises the functionality of HP’s storage arrays but also enhances HP’s overall solutions for virtualisation.”

A new version of HP Image Manager Operating System (OS) has also been added. The solution is designed for organisations that are just beginning their transition to virtualisation or for non-technical user deployments such as in education environments.

HP Image Manager is now available for use with the HP t5735 Thin Client as well as other clients through HP Customisation Services.
