Bytes launches storage unit in UAE

Bytes Technology Group Emirates, a subsidiary of Bytes Technology Group, which is wholly-owned by JSE-listed Altron, has announced the launch of a storage business unit in the UAE based on NetApp products.

Bytes is currently NetApp’s largest partner in Africa and has extensive experience in enterprise storage and data solutions. NetApp creates innovative storage and data management solutions that deliver cost efficiency and accelerate business breakthroughs.

“The market for storage is showing tremendous growth in this part of the world, and we are excited about leveraging our global NetApp relationship to drive solutions in the UAE market” says Rodney Barrell, managing director of Bytes Emirates.  “We have developed a wide range of offerings in this space which add value to our customers, ranging from pro-active monitoring solutions to full storage infrastructure managed services offerings, and now is a great time to be introducing these to the local market”.

“Bytes brings enterprise experience and credibility to the Middle East market, and we look forward to working with them to drive our expansion plans for the region,” says Martyn Molnar, managing director NetApp Middle East.

Bytes will be supported in its go to market efforts by Aptec Distribution, a leading regional technology distributor who has worked closely with NetApp for several years.

NetApp was recently positioned by Gartner in the Leaders quadrant for Storage Resource Management and SAN Management Software. (www.netapp.com/templates/mediaView?m=ar-gartner-magic-quadrant%20-for-storage-resource.pdf&cc=us&wid=145885525&mid=145885525.)
